The home side's a player protects the ball from Manchester United's Leny Yoro in the Premier League clash at their home ground. Match Summary Dominic Calvert-Lewin sees a first-half header come back off the post. Brenden Aaronson puts the home side ahead with a well-placed strike in the second half. Cunha responds only three minutes afterwards. The Yorkshire side continue their best top-flight undefeated streak since 2001. The Red Devils' poor run of form continued at Leeds' fortress, but head coach Ruben Amorim had Matheus Cunha to thank for his side not suffering even more disappointment against Leeds. Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed a first-half effort against the post for the in-form home team before Brenden Aaronson finished superbly with a driven, 62nd-minute shot. With the goal, the United boss was under intense scrutiny after his side had failed to beat struggling Wolves at home earlier in the week. However, against opponents who had two days less to recover, the forward restored parity three minutes later when he ran on to a through ball from introduced Joshua Zirkzee and slid a shot underneath advancing Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri. It was only the Brazilian's fourth goal since his high-profile summer move and came at a time when Amorim is without four key attacking players due to a mix of injury and international duty. Not that the hosts to sympathise with that given their own tight schedule. The Swiss attacker forced a diving save out of visiting goalkeeper Senne Lammens with a spectacular overhead kick, and visiting heads were in hands when the Slovenian striker, who is struggling to make an impression, turned Zirkzee's cut-back wide from close range. Cunha, who had a goal ruled out for offside much earlier in the contest, also blasted against a post in the dying moments. The draw prolongs the home side's unbeaten run to seven matches, their best such streak since 2001, and takes them eight points clear of the drop zone. For the Manchester United though, it was yet another opportunity to move into the Champions League places, albeit only for a matter of hours, wasted. Manchester United Breakdown: The Manager's Side Struggle Again With the AFCON reaching its knockout phase, Amorim could be understood for hoping the participating nations make a swift exit. Current injuries to captain Bruno Fernandes and England international Mason Mount only exacerbated the impact the unavailability of other forwards is having on the team's squad. It's not that the missing pair are the answer to all of the club's problems. After all, they were part of the side that suffered poor results earlier in the season. But without them, the boss has few attacking options. He evidently does not have full faith in teenager Shea Lacey or the seasoned Zirkzee, even though the Netherlands forward provided the through ball for the equaliser almost immediately after his arrival as a replacement. That leaves the Brazilian, who has now scored a small tally in recent outings, and others operating out of their natural positions, alongside Sesko. On this evidence, the big-money frontman looks no better than previous underwhelming signings, lacking in belief and assurance in front of goal. Sesko's failure to turn home the cross means it is now a long run without a goal for the new signing. Leeds United Breakdown: Another Step Towards Safety After thrilling victories in their previous home games, the arrival of their fiercest rivals to Elland Road was a comparatively subdued affair. True, there were instances of expected atmosphere, but the hostile edge was not as evident as in previous encounters. Leeds' fans were more preoccupied about their side's struggle to get sustained possession in dangerous areas for any prolonged period. The striker's header that clipped the post was an isolated moment of threat in a tight first half. It still felt as though Leeds were finding it tough when a defensive error opened the door for the opener. For a short moment, Leeds' ecstatic fans thought they were about to secure a rare win against Manchester United. Nevertheless, there is a much bigger picture for the manager and Leeds to deal with. When they suffered a poor run of form earlier in the campaign, many speculated about the manager's future. In contrast, he is now masterminding clear progress. The job is not completed yet but step by step, Leeds are getting nearer to achieving their survival. Looking Ahead The Yorkshire club have a Premier League trip to Newcastle in midweek, followed by the start of their domestic cup campaign next weekend. Manchester United face a Premier League trip to Burnley before also entering their cup journey with a home tie.
